And the gifts keep on coming from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. With the release date for Kick-Ass 2 ridiculously close, Universal has wisely used this as an opportunity to drop a very, very RED BAND extended trailer of the superhero satire sequel. Enjoy…
Overall, it is mostly a 4-minute extended version of what we’ve seen before. And the real joy added is John Leguizamo as Chris D’Amico’s (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) new bodyguard. The two appear to have chemistry and should be fun to watch.
Otherwise, this writer is still a bit worried. Visually, it will obviously be a downgrade from Matthew Vaughn’s kinetic and mischievous eye. However, even the beloved Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl dynamic seems a bit peculiar in the extended clips. It is recreating scenes from the first, but at the moment…it is hard to judge if it works.
What do you think?
Kick-Ass 2 opens August 16.
