Will Captain Marvel be Marvel's first female-led comic book movie? Possibly...
We're long overdue for a female-fronted superhero movie, and Marvel looks the most likely to make it happen. While Marvel's Phase Two is all mapped out, there are still a couple of mystery slots available in Phase Three, and, of course, what happens beyond that is anybody's guess. Given her heavy presence in Iron Man 2, Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and now, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Black Widow seems like the logical choice, and the easiest transition. Ah, but not so fast...according to Kevin Feige, "if we do a Black Widow movie after Age Of Ultron, when she's been central in three or four movies, I don't think we'd get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say 'she's already a big giant superhero'".
Which brings us to the next round of speculation. "If we had a great idea we do it", Feige said. "I like the idea if we're going to a [female headlined comic book movie] do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an origin story".
That sure does sound like it opens the door for Captain Marvel, a current fan-favorite, whose adventures have been written by one of the top talents in comics, Kelly Sue DeConnick for the last couple of years. "We've talked a lot about [Captain Marvel]", Feige confirmed. "I think that would be very cool".
There are persistent rumors that Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel's real name) will be introduced in some capacity in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, those remain vague and unconfirmed, at best, at this time. But considering that her current comic book costume looks almost tailor-made for the big screen, and the fact that her power set would put her on a level with Thor (or even the competition's Superman), Captain Marvel would be, not only a safe choice in terms of spectacle, but a logical one in terms of potential box-office appeal.
More on this as we get it. Hopefully someone over at Marvel has Katee Sackhoff's number...

There's a lot of speculation around Skye in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D being someone Marvelous.
Eh I saw the episodes and I can see the idea there but, whilst I enjoy the show, it isn't as big, I seriously doubt they would try an origin story through the TV show, and considering this is still the first season, you would think if that was the idea and they knew they were heading there, then they might have used someone a touch more... likable
