The first teaser for the new Peanuts movie, starring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang has landed. Watch it right here!

Worried about the prospects of a CG Peanutsmovie? Don't be! This teaser trailer looks wonderful. I'll admit to a fair amount of skepticism at the prospect of a 3D computer-rendered version of the Peanutsgang. Clearly, I was barking up the wrong kite-eating tree.

This brief bit of footage sure does make it look like Blue Sky got this one right...

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something both physical and appropriately Schulz-like about the way these characters are rendered. Particularly in the backgrounds and the stray bits of fur on Snoopy's head.

Peanutsis produced by Craig Schulz, son of Peanutscreator Charles M. Schulz, who told USA Today, "It's long overdue. The fans have been asking for a long time, but we held off until the time was right." Peanuts boasts a screenplay by Bryan Schulz (Charles' grandson). ""With my father's work this is three generation of Shulzes on this film," Craig said.

Peanutsis directed by Steve Martino (who also directed Ice Age: Continental Drift), who promises, "We're going to fly with Snoopy in his fantasy world. We have a bigger canvas. Bill Melendez got Snoopy off the ground in the TV specials. We're going to take it a step further." Alright, fine. We're sold.

Here's the (brief) official description:

For the first time ever, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang we know and love from Charles Schulz's timeless Peanutscomic strip will be making their big-screen debut; like they've never been seen before in a CG-Animated Feature film in 3D.

Peanutsis currently slated for a November 6, 2015 release date. Suddenly, I'm really looking forward to it.

While I do agree with you that this looks brilliant and faithful to the original comic, it's actually Blue Sky Studios, not DreamWorks.

Good grief! Sorry. Hadn't had my coffee. It's fixed. Thanks for the catch...that was embarrassing.

No problem. :)

Looking good! :-)
