Warner Bros. executive Dan Fellman reconfirms the studio's commitment for the May 6, 2016 release of Batman vs. Superman.

In what has become the biggest game of blockbuster chicken in recent memory, Warner Brothers has reacted publicly to Marvel and Disney’s official announcement yesterday that Captain America 3 is scheduled for a May 6, 2016 release date…the same day that WB slotted Batman vs. Superman in for (which at the time was occupied by a then unspecified Marvel movie).

While speaking with Bloomberg.com, Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Brothers, said “It doesn’t make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date, but there is a lot of time between now and 5/6/16….However, at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs. Superman.”

Fellman is right, there is a lot of time between now and a May weekend that is over two years away. Personally, I would be shocked if it actually came to pass that these two films would meet head-to-head. And while Captain America 3’s $96 million box office weekend was impressive, it still wasn’t the $116 million that Man of Steel collected from U.S. audiences in three days, much less what the last two Batman films managed to rake in. Then again, there is another Disney franchise that could always move. One with even more Force than the Caped Crusader.

Which film do you think will move? And if somehow they both do end up opening on May 6, 2016, which will be your top priority?
