We've already seen two Korean directors make their English language debut this year, with Kim Jee-woon heading up the violent Arnold Schwarzenegger action vehicle The Last Stand, and Park Chan-wook taking on the stylish drama thriller, Stoker. Up next is Bong Joon-ho, the director of The Host and Mother - and his forthcoming movie may be the most exciting of all of them.
A science fiction thriller based on a French graphic novel, Snowpiercer is about the class war that breaks out on an unstoppable train thundering through an apocalyptic ice age. Featuring a great ensemble cast, including Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, John Hurt and Tilda Swinton, it has the star power to match its high concept. And as you can see from the latest trailer below, it looks quite stunning.
Early reviews have been highly positive, and we can't wait to see it. The only problem is, we don't have a firm release date yet, even though The Weinstein Company has secured the rights to distribute it outside Korea. When we do get a date, though, we'll be sure to pass it along.
