There's a growing suspicion that the upcoming Star Wars Celebration Europe event in Germany is where we might start to get one or two more official announcements with regards the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. The fact that Carrie Fisher is attending this weekend's official event at the least leads us to suspect that we may get official word on her involvement in the movie at least (not that it's much of a secret though, in truth).
Furthermore, there's Disney's own D23 event in August, which might just be where the big reveals are scheduled for. That strikes us as the more likely candidate for the big news anyway.
However, all of this doesn't stop the speculation, and Latino Review has its hands on a few names. It reports. for a start, that Leonardo DiCaprio was mooted for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, but that he passed on the project in favor of a live action take on Robotech. We've no idea where that project is at the moment, nor if there's much substance to the DiCaprio rumour in the first place, in truth. Latino Review's batting average isn't bad on such stories, in fairness.
The same site is also throwing two more names into the speculation mix. And they are Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron. It's suggesting that Ryan Gosling is being linked with the role of Luke Skywalker's son, although it has no detail on which character Zac Efron is up for. The site does report that at least one of the pair went in to meet for the project last week.
Again, this is all quite speculative at this stage of course, but there's a real sense that the official announcements are getting closer. As we hear more, we'll let you know...
