Harrison Ford has been offered the chance to reprise his role of Rick Deckard for a Ridley Scott-directed Blade Runner sequel.
Is Rick Deckard a Replicant or a human? Is the movie one of redemption or a long con on the most useful of appliances? It is one of sci-fi cinema’s great question marks that fans have long debated. However, Alcon Entertainment appears ready to give a definitive answer to the question as they have reportedly made an offer to Harrison Ford to reprise the role in a sequel to Blade Runner!
As reported by ComingSoon, Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson have made the tender offer for Ford to return to a cult classic role that has turned into a classic, classic in a Ridley Scott-directed sequel.
Written by Michael Green and Hampton Fancher (the latter of whom co-wrote the 1982 film), the Blade Runner sequel would take place several decades after the end of the 1982 film. This would especially make sense if Ford, clearly outliving the four-year time limit on Replicants, reprised the role of Deckard.
In a statement, Kosove and Johnson said, “We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project.”
Blade Runner is widely considered a masterpiece of the genre that, despite numerous cuts with and without narration, has always been able to stun and impress movie lovers for generations.
