Oliver Stone set to leak new Edward Snowden film.
Oliver Stone is going to blow the whistle on the whistleblowers. Stone is going to leak the inside story of Ed Snowden. Oliver Stone and Moritz Borman, his long-time producing partner, bought the rights to journalist Luke Harding’s exposé The Snowden Files, The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man.
Oliver Stone will write the screenplay and direct the film which tells Harding’s view of the Snowden story from his vantage point at Britain’s The Guardiannewspaper. Shooting is set to begin by the end of the year.
This is a great fit for Oliver Stone, who directed such classic political thrillers as JFK, Nixon, Salvador, and that magnficent hidden history series he did for Showtime. The Snowden Files is current, it’s got conspiracies, treachery, treason, patriotism and wedding proposals from sexy Russian spies.
“This is one of the greatest stories of our time,” Stone said. “A real challenge. I’m glad to have The Guardian working with us.”
