The Wachowski's ambitious sci-fi flick, Jupiter Ascending, won't be opening this July...
With this weekend's big sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrowgarnering critical acclaim and Godzilla stomping off into the sunset of box-office success, we were starting to think that Warner Bros. was staking its summer territory with a "we don't need no stinking superhero movies" defiance. After all, we were just over a month away from the Wachowskis' even more ambitious sci-fi epic, Jupiter Ascending. Well...not so fast. The Jupiter Ascendingrelease has been pushed back from July 18th of this year to February 6th, 2015.
The reason given was that the Wachowskis simply needed more time to get the special effects up to snuff. Considering the look of what they've shown us so far, that seems reasonable. They sure waited long enough to do it, though.
“With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time,” Warner Bros.' domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman told Variety. “A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”
This is a bit of a downer, to be sure. Watch the rather gorgeous trailer for Jupiter Ascending right here:
Jupiter Ascending will arrive this winter. It stars Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, and Sean Bean. We'll try and be patient.

I was REALLY looking forward to this movie too.
I'm wondering if they are going to shoot for a late-March/early-April release to capitalize on relatively low competition like Cap America TWS did this year?
