IMAX aspect ratios, a new TV spot and a bit of LEGO in our latest Guardians Of The Galaxy round-up...

The attention over the past week or so may have been on Doctor Strange and Ant-Man, but Marvel Studios' next feature film, Guardians Of The Galaxy, is fast incoming. It's due in UK cinemas on July 31st, and we've got one or two bits about the film here.

Firstly, its director, James Gunn, has been talking about the film's IMAX 3D release.

On his Facebook page, Gunn talked about the film's post-production 2D to 3D conversation, arguing that "unlike many directors I've been actively involved with converting every shot to 3D, making sure it works perfectly for the story and the film, making sure it's spectacular and immersive without being silly, distracting or overly showy".

Gunn noted that "Guardians Of The Galaxy has been prepared as a 3D film from its very inception".

But it's his comments on the IMAX work that are perhaps the most interesting. "As an extra benefit for those who see the film in IMAX 3D", he wrote, "we will be changing aspect ratios throughout the film in a way that makes the experience even fuller and more encompassing. I've personally chosen all the places where the changes occur and, again, I love how it's coming along. The changing aspect ratios in this case are actually a part of the storytelling".

Then, some new footage of the film has come to light in a brand new TV spot for the film. You can see that below.

Finally, an assortment of Guardians Of The Galaxy LEGO sets have been launched, as part of LEGO's ongoing collection of Marvel goodies. Three sets are on sale now, including Knowhere Escape Mission and Starblaster Showdown. If LEGO follows its usual approach, expect more Guardians Of The Galaxystuff in the near future.

They need to drop this Ad. The sequence of "We're the Guardians of the Galaxy" ..."Who?" wouldn't even work if we didn't already know that it's supposed to be "Star Lord" ... "Who?", The other trailers have been great. This one? ... not so much.
