Steven Seagal is planning and writing a third Under Siege movie - and he won't make an Expendables sequel...

The first Under Siege movie proved both a springboard for Steven Seagal's career, and also one for director Andrew Davis (who would go on to make The Fugitive). The second Under Siege movie, which switched the action from a boat to a train, did not. We've a soft spot for Under Siege 2, but the 1995 follow-up, directed by Geoff Murphy (Fortress 2, Young Guns II) did not ignite in the same way as the first. And, over time, Steven Seagal and cinema releases were mentioned less and less in the same sentence.

However, Seagal - whose top 25 movies we counted down in, er, some detail here - is keen to make a third instalment of the Under Siege series. Chatting to The Big Issue, he revealed that he'd want the next film to be set in Russia. Not because Russians tend to be Hollywood villains of choice, either. "I think that America and Russia should be great allies and great friends. And can be. What I want to do is write a movie, which I’ve sort of already done, where Russian special forces and American special forces work together to combat terrorism", Seagal revealed, adding that "the only way for us to prosper as a human race is for us to get along. There are hundreds of millions of people that want that".

So then: boat? Train? Something bigger? "I don't want to make it too big", Seagal said. "I don't want it to look like Die Hard 47 or something like that. I'd like to make it a bit more realistic if I can".

Oh, and one more thing: don't expect Seagal to appear in a future Expendablessequel. "I just didn't like some of the people involved", he confirmed. He has no problem with The Statham though. "I like Jason Statham", Seagal admitted. Phew.

So .... there IS a God after all. Who knew?

Just when you thought they had already come up with all the worst movie ideas, Seagal comes along to wreck the day

OK, so in a world in which the Russians have invaded the Ukraine and is working to cripple America's and Europe's energy independence, this numb nuts wants to make a film in which the Russians are the good guys?

I have no doubt that he's writing this film. The hard part is finding someone stupid enough to fiance it.

So would Under Siege 3 be another one of his DTV cheap flicks where he can't be bothered to do his own fighting or dubbing? Because there's no way Warner would pony up $50-60 million for a movie where Steven Seagal gets top billing.
