James Cameron has a busy few years ahead of him, with production set to start next year on a pair of sequel to Avatar. Avatar 2 is tentatively set for the end of 2015, with Avatar 3 the year after. That said, expect that schedule to 'evolve'.
So where does that leave Cameron's long-in-gestation anime adaptation, Battle Angel? Well, still on the cooker, as it stands.
Cameron was talking to technology forum TagDF in Mexico City last week, and he confirmed that Battle Angel was still a live project for him, with the plan being, perhaps inevitably, to "begin to develop" the movie in 2017. Begin to develop is a long way away from 'movie', so we suspect that the wait goes on for some time here. We'd be surprised, at this rate, to see Battle Angel on a movie theater screen before 2019.
Incidentally, at the same event, Cameron made one or two comments surrounding the use of 3D in movie, arguing that Iron Man 3 and Man Of Steel "should not necessarily be in 3D". He added that "if you spend $150m on visual effects the movie is already going to [look] spectacular". Just thought you'd like to know...

Look Cameron, you did not invent, nor own 3D. So shut up!
Cameron is a lot of things, but "humble" ain't any of them.
