Despite Harrison Ford's injury, Star Wars: Episode VII is still set to make its projected release date.
Reporting on Harrison Ford's injury while on the set of Star Wars: Episode VIIisn't my favorite thing to do. The actor sustained a broken leg, required surgery, and is now going to be out of action for eight weeks. It's as simple as that, really, and we all hope he heals up quickly and with a minimum of discomfort.
The problem is, eight weeks is a long time. With reports that Ford's Han Solo has a significant role to play in Star Wars: Episode VII, of course the speculation machine would run rampant. With a report surfacing at Jedi News that an emergency meeting was held at Pinewood Studios to discuss potential production delays, and another over at Making Star Wars claiming knowledge of a production memo discussing potential delays, the next logical conclusion to draw would be that the December 18th, 2015 release date suddenly looks a little ambitious.
Not so, apparently. A Lucasfilm representative told TheForce.netthat "There is no change in the release date." That sounds authoritative.
Now, let's hope Mr. Ford is feeling better and then get back to just trying to figure out who everybody is playing...
