Acorn TV announced at January's Television Critics Association tour that it has exclusive North American rights to both the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries movie and the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries spinoff series. (Yes, the Miss Fisher universe is alive and well, even if it doesn't seem like we will be getting Miss Fisher Season 4 anytime soon.)

The spinoff show is called Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries and it follows Phyrne Fisher's niece, Peregrine Fisher (played by Geraldine Hakewill), in the 1960s. When Phryne goes missing and is presumed dead (yikes!), Peregrine inherits her aunt's money and house. In typical Fisher fashion, Peregrine decides to become a detective just like her aunt.

Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries seems to be following a very similar formula to its predecessor, with Joel Jackson starring as the handsome Detective James Steed. Catherine McClements also stars as Birdie, a friend of Phryne's who is committed to ensuring Phryne's legacy and will no doubt serve as a mentor to Peregrine.

Miss Fisher Spinoff Release Date

Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries will be available via AcornTV starting on April 29th.
