We have gotten the first full trailer for the most interesting role Ben Affleck has in the pipeline. And we are of course talking about him as Nick Dunne in David Fincher’s adaptation of the bestselling Gillian Flynn novel, Gone Girl.
As is often the case, true crime stories have never felt so true (even if they’re fictional) when in the hands of Fincher, the director of Seven, Zodiac, and the American The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Gone Girl unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits, and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
The harrowing answer to that question and more will be revealed to moviegoers when Gone Girl opens on October 3, 2014.
