The writer of the original Gremlins joins the new movie as a producer...
Well, it looks as if Warner Bros is serious this time. For many years, there's been talk of a Gremlinsreboot/remake/belated sequel, but there finally seems to be some real progress being made.
We already knew that Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg were involved with the new Gremlins film. But The Tracking Boardnow reports that Chris Columbus has jumped aboard the new Gremlinsas a producer. Columbus penned the screenplay for the first film, and he's also set to produce the belated Gooniessequel that's also in the works. Steven Spielberg is also said to be involved in both projects.
The Tracking Boardsuggests that the new Gremlinsis a remake, although we're not 100% sure that's the case. It does seem clear that the director of the first two films, Joe Dante, is not involved, at least not at the moment.
