Rose Leslie of Game of Thrones fame has been cast as a good-hearted witch in Vin Diesel's next movie: The Last Witch Hunter.
Alas, the problem with growing fond of any character on HBO’s massively successful Game of Thrones is to then having to say goodbye to them. And for many viewers, it was especially hard to bid their farewells to Rose Leslie’s Wildling-fighting, Irish brogue-cursing, and Crow-loving Ygritte. But the girl who was kissed by fire finally felt the icy embrace of the Stranger as well during season four of the fantasy epic.
Yet, fans of the Scottish Leslie have not seen the last of her in fantastical situations. Indeed, she already has landed her next gig that will hopefully be set somewhere warmer: Leslie has been cast in the female lead alongside Vin Diesel in The Last Witch Hunter.
Set to star as a female witch, Leslie will play a good hearted sort of enchantress who lives in New York City and joins forces with Diesel’s titular hero, a semi-immortal (and thus semi-Blade) witch hunter who hits the mean streets and the meaner monsters on them. When an evil witch threatens to infect all of humanity with her vile sorceries, it will be up to Diesel and Leslie to save the day. Somehow, we suspect they will be casting their own charms amongst themselves too.
The Last Witch Hunter is being directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies) and is set to be released next year by Summit Entertainment.
