The next DC Universe animated movie is Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. Here's who will voice the team!
Justice League: Throne of Atlantisis the second in Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's New 52 themed Justice League animated films. Justice League: War kicked things off with the team's new origin, and now we'll be treated to the introduction of Aquaman with Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. While the animated movies will now take place in the same continuity, there's still been a bit of a voice cast shakeup this time around.
Let's start with who will return. Jason O'Mara is back as Batman. For the most part, O'Mara is the Batman of the moment, having also voiced the Dark Knight in the recent Son of Batman animated film. Also returning are Shemar Moore as Cyborg, Christopher Gorham as the Flash, and Sean Astin as Shazam. But it's the newcomers that should really interest you.
Nathan Fillion, who has voiced Hal Jordan before, is here as Green Lantern. Rosario Dawson continues to cement her comic book bonafides as the voice of Wonder Woman. Jerry O'Connell will play Superman while Aquaman, a critical role in this story, will be brought to life by Matt Lanter (you may know him as Anakin Skywalker on The Clone Wars). Other castmembers include Sam Witwer as Aquaman's brother Orm, and Sumalee Montano as Queen Mera.
As the title suggests, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis focuses heavily on Aquaman. While Justice League: War was a bit of a mess, it also wasn't working from the strongest source material. Fortunately, Throne of Atlantis, based on a Geoff Johns-penned story that ran through the Aquaman and Justice League comics, is a much more engaging story. It's also a perfect way to help reposition Aquaman as a formidable character that can hold his own with the bigger names in the DC pantheon in advance of his appearances in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and a Justice Leaguemovie.
Here's your first look at Aquaman from Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.
No official word on the release date, but we expect it won't be too far off.
