Watch the first trailer for October's upcoming Annabelle, The Conjuring spin-off about the iconic demonic doll.
Last October, we at Den of Geek wondered aloud “Where are the Horror Movies?” Well this year is making up for that with five ghoulish wide releases cued up for the month alone, but there will be one that gets here before any other…Annabelle.
Despite being based on a “true story” (you can even visit the real Annabelle doll with a special invitation at the Ed and Lorraine Warren museum to this day), it appears that for The Conjuring spin-off, things are getting truly devilish in this never-before-told origin story on the demonic doll that terrified filmgoers last summer.
In the below trailer see just where the terror all began…
Remember how scared you were during this summer’s box office horror hit The Conjuring? Recall also how 50 percent of that may have come from the opening shot being on that creepy Annabelle doll’s face? Well, Warner Brothers is surely hoping that you do!
It seems the current rule of horror is that if you've had a big hit movie, don't just be satisfied with a sequel, investigate the spin-off movie too. That's just what Warner Bros has done, with its now confirmed release date The Conjuring spin-off, Annabelle.
Opening October 3, 2014, Annabelle is directed by John Leonetti, the cinematographer of The Conjuring, and stars Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton. The script was written by Gary Gauberman.
It should also be noted that Annabelle is not The Conjuring 2. That movie is still in pre-production and could be released as early as 2015. It is currently unclear if director James Wan will be returning to the director’s chair.
