Here are the complete announcements coming out of San Diego Comic-Con's famed Hall H.
We've got Don Kaye stationed in Hall H (poor guy has been there all day), and he's got the scoop on every single announcement coming out of Marvel today about the future of the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Keep hitting refresh for more info as it comes in!
After a bit of a rock n' roll wait time (they told us 5:30...honest), Marvel kicks things off with a video montage of all their films. They get the expected response...
And they lead with Ant-Man. Paul Rudd, Peyton Reed, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas all on stage with Kevin Feige. Corey Stoll is confirmed as the film's villain, Darren Cross/Yellowjacket. Evangeline Lilly is playing Hank Pym's daughter, Hope Van Dyne.
Some footage is shown, including Ant-Man in action. Hopefully this hits the web in some format other than "phone camera vision" soon. Teaser shows Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in the Ant-Man suit on a flying insect, with Hank Pym's voice guiding him.
Now it's time for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Sadly, Joss Whedon won't be joining us, as he's unwell and stuck in London. But you should see the reaction for Robert Downey Jr...followed, of course, by the other Avengers: Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, James Spader, and Elizabeth Olsen. Did you ever think we'd get an Avengersmovie this large with this kind of talent?
We'd have more interesting stuff to post about Avengers: Age of Ultron if Chris Hardwick would ask the cast more interesting questions.
Oh, this is cool: James Spader points out that Ultron is 8 feet tall. We like our robots on the large size, here, too.
And the first footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron is screened. It's the party scene at Avengers tower that we've heard about. The team tried to lift Mjolnir...the only one who comes close is Steve. Of course.
"There's only one path to peace. Your extinction." - Ultron
There were lots of shots of global devastation, Avengers on the run, fighting with each other, folks running and screaming.
Yes, there's a proper look at Iron Man in Hulkbuster armor in there, too. The last shot is of Ultron with blazing red eyes, followed by the logo, and Tony Stark looking at a destroyed Captain America shield. If we may throw objectivity out the window for a moment, the Age of Ultron footage is awesome.
And now, look who's here. Josh Brolin...THANOS. We knew this ages ago, and this is the first official confirmation from Marvel.
Speaking of confirmations, Guardians of the Galaxy 2is a go for July 28th, 2017!
And, that's it. Whatever else Marvel has planned, they're keeping it to themselves.
