Long interested in stretching her acting legs away from the truly Undead Resident Evil films, Milla Jovovich has been cast to star alongside Ed Harris and Ethan Hawke in this modern day retelling of one of William Shakespeare’s later plays, Cymberline.
Cast as the Queen alongside Ed Harris’s King, Deadline reports that Jovovich will participate in this biker gang reimagining of the early 17th century classic, which is to be directed by Michael Almereyda, the filmmaker behind the infamous 2000 modernization of Hamlet that also starred Ethan Hawke.
Cymberline is a romance of betrayed innocence, based on the legends surrounding early Celtic King Cunobelinus. In this tale, King Cymberline’s (Harris) vanity and pride forces him to banish his daughter’s secret husband while his conspiratorial wife (Jovovich) plots the murders of Cymberline and his daughter to assert her son from another marriage to the throne.
Jovovich received solid notices in 2010 for Stone, a film in which she co-starred with Ed Norton and Robert De Niro.
