The writer and co-director of Frozen, Jennifer Lee, has been tapped by Disney to pen an adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time.

Jennifer Lee of Frozen is set to pen the adaptation for beloved children’s classic, A Wrinkle in Time.

Lee, who has made waves in Hollywood after the movie she wrote and co-directed with Chris Buck, Frozen, made $1.3 billion, has been tapped by Disney to now script another children’s story that will have high expectations for the studio.

First published in 1962, the Madeleine L’Engle novel has captured the imaginations of multiple generations of children with its use of time travel and pure fantasy when turn of the century young siblings embark on a metaphysical journey to find their missing father. It also conceivably could be the start of a new franchise, as A Wrinkle in Time is the first installment of the “Time Quartet,” which continued with A Wind in the Door, Many Waters, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

No director is yet attached to the project.

And for those worried, Lee is going nowhere from Walt Disney Animation Studios where she remains part of the studio’s “story trust.” So, don’t rule out a Frozen 2 just yet. The next Walt Disney Animation Studios film is an adaptation of an obscure Marvel comic book series: Big Hero 6.
