Studios continue to back horror movies in high summer, as Poltergeist is put back to July 2015.
There's been no shortage of release date news overnight, but one that may slip under the radar a little is a delay in the upcoming remake/reboot of Poltergeist.
The film had been scheduled for release on Valentine's Day, in a showdown with Fifty Shades Of Grey. But the movie, which 20th Century Fox is backing, has now moved to a prime summer slot.

Summer is increasingly becoming prime time for horror, not least since The Conjuring brought Warner Bros a very tidy sum last year in July. This year, Sony put out Scott Derrickson's Deliver Us From Evilin July in the US, and next year already, Insidious Chapter 3 is lined up for a late May bow.
Poltergeistthen, which is being directed by Monster House's Gil Kenan (and Monster Houseis a sorely underappreciated movie), is set for a US release on July 24th 2016. We'd expect the UK date to fall not far from there.
