Vin Diesel is never shy on social media, and may have just given fans a clue about future Marvel movies.
Before Vin Diesel was Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, he was another actor on Marvel's radar. The actor has always been particularly candid with his fans on Facebook, and at the time, he let folks know that something was in the works. At the time, we thought it had something to do with Avengers: Age of Ultron, but we were clearly wrong. Now, Diesel is teasing fans again.
While thanking everyone for the runaway success of Guardians of the Galaxy, he posted on Facebook:
"Vin and Marvel... you all made it happen! I get the strange feeling that Marvel thinks I'm Inhuman... Haha."
Yes, "ha ha" indeed. That capital "I" is probably no accident. And then there's this quote from an interview that he did with the folks at ComicBook.com:
"When I first got the call from Kevin Feige, he prefaced the call by saying 'This is the strangest character Marvel has ever attempted.' He said 'Don’t answer me now, but instead of making the fans wait until 2017, there’s something that would be a brilliant idea, we think you could be the only person who could bring the emotion to this very challenging task. Don’t answer me Vin, don’t answer me, let me send over my conceptual art.'"
So, was Diesel already in negotiations for a non-Groot Marvel role? One that scheduling conflicts wouldn't have permitted until 2017? Is an Inhumans movie penciled in on Marvel's calendar for 2017? Black Bolt of the Inhumans would certainly play well on the screen. After lending his voice to Groot, could he be lending his body to an otherwise voiceless role? Too many questions...
I'm sure that Disney and Warner Bros. wish that guys like Vin Diesel and the Rock would quit spilling the beans about their plans on social media. But really, would you want to be the one who tells them?
