The Inhumans has been discussed for quite some time as a Marvel Studios project, and now it sounds like it's moving forward.
There isn't a tremendous amount to this particular news item, but it's a start. The Inhumans will indeed be a movie from Marvel Studios. No release date has been set and there is no director in place. There is, however, a script that Marvel is happy with, and that's a good start.
The success of Guardians of the Galaxy has certainly emboldened Marvel and the cosmic corner of their cinematic universe. Colliderare reporting that Marvel is impressed with the script by Joe Robert Cole (Amber Lake), and that now it's time to find a director. In the wake of Vin Diesel's recent comments, it's a safe bet that the wheels are indeed already in motion on this one.
The Inhumans will likely follow the Guardians of the Galaxy model in a number of ways. For one thing, Marvel Comics have already spent the last year positioning the comic franchise as serious players in the Marvel Universe, much the way they did in the years leading up to the Guardians of the Galaxy film. Joe Robert Cole is a product of Marvel's writing program, much the same way that Nicole Perlman, who wrought the early drafts of Guardianswas. There's a pattern here, and this is a similarly offbeat concept.
