The Power Rangers movie, which sounds more and more like a reboot, now has a spot on the calendar.
Lionsgate and Saban have revealed when we can see the Power Rangers on the big screen again. It's not quite as far off as you might think. Less than two years, actually. Oh, alright...the new Power Rangers movie will be released on July 22nd, 2016.
Here's the official synopsis:
From a story by Executive Producer Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor) comes a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.
Sounds familiar, right? Recently, Roberto Orci spoke a little about the film's direction, and he made it sound like it wouldn't be a strict reboot of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but there was still plenty of room for interpretation. This new synopsis sure makes it sound like it is, though. We will, of course, follow developments on this closely.
