Not to be confused with Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, we're getting a prequel to the original film this time.

Don't try and think too hard about the chronology of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. In fact, it's probably best if you don't try and think too hard about them in general beyond the Tobe Hooper 1974 original (although nearly every film in the franchise, including the reboot, has a moment or two). However, there is going to be a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie which will serve as a prequel to the 1974 film, rather than a prequel to the current franchise...which already had a prequel of its own with 2006's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

Leatherface(wait...wasn't that the title of Texas Chainsaw Massacre III?) will detail young Leatherface's madcap adventures in Texas in the early '70s. Perhaps we'll learn how he gained such proficiency with a chainsaw. Oh, the possibilities are endless, aren't they?

The Wrapreports that Seth M. Sherwood is writing the film, which has Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman as executive producers. Mr. Sherwood is well regarded on the horror circuit at the moment, with a number of projects in development, so this might be a gory good time. A director is actively being sought, so we may see Young Leatherface in Love(note: that is not the title of the film) begin production this winter.
