Simon Pegg spills that he and Nick Frost will be back in character on the Disney cartoon this Halloween!
Shaun of the Dead, Edgar Wright’s 2004 comedy horror film, propelled not just Wright to stardom, but also the film’s stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Offering a very meta, postmodern slant on zombie films in the same way that Wes Craven poked at slasher films with Scream, Shaun of the Dead was hugely influential and inspired countless spoofs and new horror comedy films. Some might say that the oversaturation of zombie properties we saw in the late 2000s that continues even now were spawned in Shaun of the Dead’s wake.
Fans have had the chance to see Wright, Pegg, and Frost reteam in other pictures, like Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, the other installments in their Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy, but there has not been any reprisal of Shaun and his newly zombified friend Ed since the original picture. Now Pegg has spilled the beans that the characters will be returning, but in a very unlikely place.
Here’s news, @nickjfrost and myself will be once again stepping into Shaun and Ed’s shoes for the #PhineasAndFerb Halloween special. W00t!!

Pegg took to Twitter to tell followers that he and Frost will be getting back in character on Disney’s Phineas and Ferb Halloween Special. Phineas and Ferb has a good reputation as a cartoon that offers clever musical numbers and pop culture references, but the Disney XD cartoon doesn’t seem like the logic choice to catch up with the leads from an R-rated film. Regardless, look for a cartoon version Simon Pegg donning his infamous white t-shirt and red tie on Disney Channel this Halloween.
