A Good Marriage isn't what the title makes you think it is, as it comes from a Stephen King short story...

From its title, A Good Marriage may sound like a romantic comedy but it really, really isn’t...not when it’s from the mind of Stephen King. With Under the Dome currently burning through its second season on CBS and the recent publication of the novel Mr. Mercedes, 2014 has been the usual exciting year for fans of Stephen King. Now the world’s favorite horror writer will also be bringing his special brand of terror back to theatres with A Good Marriage.

A Good Marriage is the story of Darcy, played by Joan Allen (The Killing, The Bourne Legacy), who after years of living a typical married life discovers that her husband Bob, played by Anthony LaPaglia, is in actuality an infamous and vicious serial killer. What follows is a harrowing journey through hell as Darcy must survive and take down the demon she has been unwittingly not only harboring, but loving. The movie also stars Kristen Connolly (Cabin in the WoodsThe Happening) as their daughter.

Like most great Stephen King tales, A Good Marriage is a story of a typical life gone horribly wrong as the author poses the question, can we ever really know the heart of another, even those we love the most?

A Good Marriage is adapted from the short story of the same name that first appeared in the anthology Full Dark, No Stars (2010). The film is directed by Peter Askin (Company Man) and based on a screenplay written by Stephen King himself. The film hits cinemas in the US on October 3rd with a UK date to follow.
