How to Train Your Dragon 3 is moved to June 2017, nearly a full year later than its original release date.
While DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon franchise will fly again, it appears that the series will have a small hiccup before the next installment. DreamWorks Animation has announced that How to Train Your Dragon 2, their latest 2014 effort that was distributed by 20th Century Fox, crossed $600 million on Labor Day, and that the series is now aiming to smoke out some more fan love on June 9, 2017….almost a full year after its original release date.
As we speculated only hours ago with the announcement of Shane Black’s The Nice Guys moving in on the date of June 16, 2016—the same date as the originally scheduled How to Train Your Dragon 3 and also Pixar’s Finding Dory—DreamWorks has opted to move the threequel to a less competitive weekend. The move also allows How to Train Your Dragon 3 to enjoy a weekend to itself in lieu of The Lego Movie sequel, which debuts on May 26, 2017.
