Ben Affleck discusses what he shares in common with Batman and what he brings to the character...
Ben Affleck has chosen his words carefully since he was cast as Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Probably wise, since folks have a tendency to over-analyze superhero casting, especially when it involves an actor as well known as Mr. Affleck. This latest quote is revealing, though.
In an interview with The Sunday Times (which comes to us via ComicBook.com), Ben Affleck spoke about what he has in common with the Dark Knight, and how that might affect his performance.
"For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with, put up with, put up with … then, when it finally emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over."
He did clarify that "I'm not gonna go into a Wolverine berserker rage," which is a cute crossover way of looking at things. Still, perhaps this is a hint about how Mr. Affleck is approaching the Bruce Wayne/Batman duality. It does sound like he's given this some thought, and that does sound like something that could apply to Batman quite well.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th, 2016.
