Check out the first clip of Dracula Untold, as well as another TV spot that features Luke Evans squaring off with Charles Dance.

For those yearning to learn the answers behind the most famous vampire’s origins, we have good news: Universal and Legendary Pictures’ Dracula Untold is ready to give them, at least one blood drop at a time.

In a one-two punch Universal has released the first clip for Dracula Untold and a new TV spot. Both seem to center around Charles Dance’s mysterious ancient vampire as he considers the plight of Vlad Tepes, the now ruggedly heroic(!) Luke Evans. Justifying his actions to seek vampirism as a solution for war, Vlad realizes that the world needs monsters to survive. We imagine that he has little idea what that could mean.

For their fourth official attempt to unearth the Undead count in Dracula Untold, Universal has partnered with Legendary Pictures with the intent of going back to the “origins” of the vampire. Yes, it is true that the connection between Vlad Tepes (Vlad The Imapler) and vampires was first made by Bram Stoker in his 1897 novel Dracula, but let us not quibble over details. In this Halloween-timed vampire flick, directed by first-timer Gary Shore, Universal time warps to the 15th century. After the fall of Constantinople, Eastern Europe is in a world of religious and cultural upheaval. Out of the darkness arises a Romanian Prince Vlad (Luke Evans) whose unusual story will inevitably take him down the dark and damned path of the Nosferatu. Complete with Dominic Cooper, Charlie Cox, Charles Dance, Sarah Gadon, and Samantha Barks as a succubus claiming men’s souls.

Dracula Untold opens October 10, 2014.
