Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct Skull Island and Tom Hiddleston will star. Presumably, not as King Kong.
The King Kong origin story (and potential start of the Legendary giant monster-verse?), Skull Island, has landed a director and a star. Tom Hiddleston has joined up in an unspecified role, but we imagine it's a big one. Kings of Summer director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct.
No plot details are yet available about Skull Island, but here's what Legendary had to say in their official statement:
Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.
Skull Island was first announced at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, along with a kaiju-heavy sequel to Godzilla. Max Borenstein is writing the film, which Legendary currently has scheduled for a November 4th, 2016 release.
