Who will be under the symbiote in the Spider-Man spinoff Venom movie? It might not be who you think it is...
The details about the Venommovie are starting to ooze out, like an alien symbiote looking to bind to you and amplify your very worst personality traits. What? Am I stretching things a little? Probably.
Nevertheless! Venomis moving right along, and Alex Kurtzman wants you to know about it. He promised that Ed Solomon will "be writing it very soon." That's good. But then he dropped this interesting tidbit, indicating that Eddie Brock isn't necessarily going to be the poor guy who grows fangs in this one.
"Venom had several different iterations, and there are several things that are very unique, interesting and specific. And so I think we all want to make sure that we’re making the right choices for a character that’s so beloved."
Flash Thompson, then? Mac Gargan? This could be a situation where Sony is a little bashful about going back to the Eddie Brock well considering how tepid fan reaction to the Venom-centric Spider-Man 3was. Plus, Eddie's origin seems to be fairly reliant on Peter Parker/Spider-Man in a number of ways, and since it's unclear what (if any) involvement Spidey would have in these spinoffs, that might be something to consider.
