Star Wars Episode VIII director Rian Johnson keeps his head loose under pressure.
Star Wars: Episode VIIIdirector Rian Johnson (we will always love him for Looper) has been chatting a little about the experience and pressure of making a new Star Wars movie. He's just one of the series of talented young directors that Disney have tapped for their new Star Wars franchise, but unlike Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank who are directing standalone films, Mr. Johnson is directing the second installment of the new trilogy, and possibly the third as well!
It's a feeling that he likens to "dancing on top of the avalanche a little bit," before admitting that it's "the most fun I've ever had writing."
As for the pressure that comes with working on the new Star Wars trilogy, he seems to have a reasonable attitude about the whole thing. “I think you can probably go to the wrong place by feeling too responsible to it. You have to keep your head loose enough, I think, to tell a story you actually care about.”
Star Wars: Episode VIII won't be around until at least 2017. We're looking forward to seeing what Mr. Johnson comes up with.
