Chris Miller and Phil Lord circle the film version of Graeme Simsion's The Rosie Project...

Graeme Simsion's novel The Rosie Project is the kind of book that's a lot, lot better than it sounds. Written strongly, it tells the story of a man who's never had a second date, who struggles to build a longlasting relationship with a woman, and who has hints of Asperger's. The solution to his dating problem is to come up with a questionnaire in order to help him find the ideal partner.

Reading that paragraph back though does the book a disservice. Whilst at times very funny, it's actually quite a tender read with some interesting stuff bubbling under the surface. But Simsion's very witty, structured writing makes it work a treat.

Simsion's follow-up novel is on the way, and now we learn a film version of the original book is coming too. What's more, it's attracted the interest of The LEGO Movie and 22 Jump Street directing team Chris Miller and Phil Lord. It's unclear if they'll direct, but they're certainly developing the project.

The film is being written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber, who previously adapted The Fault In Our Stars.

More news on this as we hear it. Do consider giving the book a try.
