First that idle Speed 3 chatter, and now this update that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are planning Bill & Ted 3.
Alex Winter has offered an update on Bill & Ted 3. Yes, you read that right. Mr. Winter, along with Keanu Reeves and writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have even completed a script.
As for what it's actually about, he said that both characters will be in their forties "and it’s all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up...It’s really sweet and really f—-ing funny." And for what else we can expect?
"It’s for the fans of Bill & Ted. It fits very neatly in the [series]. It’s not going to feel like a reboot. The conceit is really funny: What if you’re middle-aged, haven’t really grown up and you’re supposed to have saved the world and maybe, just maybe, you kinda haven’t?"
Here's one thing Bill & Ted 3 has going for it, though: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is one of the few sequels that was at least as good as the original, and that seemed pretty implausible at the time, too. Maybe they can capture the magic again.
Then again, all these sequels that arrive twenty years too late just sound like cynical reunion tours until proven innocent, don't they?
