Constantin Film is producing a Resident Evil TV series, according to Variety.
Variety reports this morning that a Resident EvilTV series is on that way, produced by Constantin Film, a German production house. The series would premiere after the final Resident Evil film, The Final Chapter, is released in 2015.
According to Variety, studio executive Martin Moszkowicz confirmed the news, citing a larger TV presence from Constantin. Resident Evil is only one of the several properties that the company will turn into new TV series, which also include The Mortal Instrumentsand Perfume.
Whether the new Resident Evil TV series will continue the story from the film franchise or will adapt the games directly is unknown at the moment. Constantin Film is also in charge of the current film franchise, so a crossover/follow-up is definitely a possibility.
It is curious that the show is being announced right after the newest game in the series, Revelations 2, which is actually being released as episodic content that emulates the TV experience. Is the new game a way to test out the audience?
