Ryan Gosling joins the likes of Ewan McGregor, Ethan Hawke and Jared Leto on Marvel's Doctor Strange shortlist...
And so the Doctor Strangecasting speculation continues. Yesterday, we brought you the news that the shortlist for the movie was down to six names. Turns out it, it might be seven.
For joining Jake Gyllenhaal, Ethan Hawke. Oscar Isaac, Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey, and Ewan McGregor on that list is now apparently Ryan Gosling. Gosling, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "has met with Marvel Studios to discuss starring in the title role inDoctor Strange."
That's still some way away from him landing said role, or wanting to play the part. Yet Gosling's name wasn't in the mix previously. It certainly is now.
The role of Doctor Strange originally seemed earmarked for Joaquin Phoenix, yet the actor reportedly ended discussions over the role a week or two back.
Doctor Strange is to be directed by Scott Derrickson, and it's widely expected to land in cinemas in the summer of 2016. We'll keep you posted as we hear more.
We'd better consult our mystic casting artifact, the Eye of Agamotto, to see if Gosling has a shot.
