DC Comics anti-heroes the Suicide Squad are getting their own movie, and it has a release date and director.
UPDATED WITH CASTING INFO!
It's been in the wind for quite some time, and now it has been confirmed. Warner Bros. are making a Suicide Squad movie, based on the long-running DC Comics mercenary anti-heroes. The Suicide Squad movie was revealed as part of a massive announcement about Warner Bros. slate of upcoming DC superhero films.
David Ayer (Fury) has been confirmed as the Suicide Squad director, and the movie is now set for an August 5th, 2016 release. At one point, there was a screenplay by Justin Marks floating around, but it's unclear at the moment if that is still in the mix. The Suicide Squad have made waves appearing on the popular ArrowTV series.
Incidentally, The Hollywood Reporter now says that some serious names are being targeted for this one, including Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Margot Robbie. Good lord, could they be looking at Margot Robbie to play Harley Quinn?
If you want to know a little bit more about them (and their ridiculously high body count), check out our Many Deaths of the Suicide Squad article.
Buckle up, because it's kinda ridiculous.
