Add another potential comic book movie to Tom Hardy's slate, as he's now reportedly up for the role of Apocalypse in the new X-Men film.
Well, Tom Hardy is a man with a few decisions to make. Already known for one major villain in the world of comic book movies thanks to his work as Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, he's got offers for two or three more to wade through it seems.
Hardy has been linked with playing Doctor Strange for Marvel, and it was also reported at the end of last week that he had been offered one of the key roles in the DC movie, Suicide Squad (that Fury helmer David Ayer is directing). But just to throw a proverbial spanner into the works, it turns out he might just be the choice to play Apocalypse in the next X-Men movie too.
Bryan Singer is set to direct X-Men: Apocalypse, which has a firm 2016 release date to aim for. As such, Singer will need to be unpacking his cameras early next year. At the very least, the offers for Suicide Squad and X-Men: Apocalypsehave reportedly dropped Tom Hardy's name down the Doctor Strange list.
The assorted casting jigsaws are likely to be sorted in the next couple of weeks. We'll keep you posted as to who lands what, and as to whether Hardy will be taking on a comic book role where we get to see his face for the duration of the film this time...
