Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer has been cast in the supernatural thriller The Forest, written and produced by David Goyer.
Natalie Dormer’s increasing rise into movies is a pleasure to see for anyone who enjoyed The Tudors or her current series, Game of Thrones. Always carrying her ambitious courtiers in those cable dramas with an air of danger and mystery, it was probably only a matter of time before she signed onto a thriller/horror that is exactly that.
Set to star in David Goyer’s The Forest, Dormer is now following up her big screen work in The Hunger Games movies with a trip into an even dangerous game: hide and seek. Located at the base of Japan’s ominous and volcanic Mt. Fuji, The Forest details an American young woman (Dormer) who arrives in search of her sister, who disappeared in these woods sometime ago. However, as the forest is also a place of restless spirits and negative energy, soon someone may have to come looking for her as well.
The Forest is based on a treatment written by Goyer; it has since been scripted by Sarah Cornwell and Nick Antosca. Goyer remains on the film as a producer, alongside production companies Lava Bear Films and Phantom Four. Focus Features plans to release the film on January 8, 2016.
