Watch the final trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 with Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss caught in the fog of war.
After dominating the popular conscious last year with an omnipresent marketing campaign for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Lionsgate has intriguingly and teasingly pulled back some with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, the penultimate film in the long-running franchise. Perhaps, it is because they want to leave us wanting more of the perpetually teased Jennifer Lawrence performance as Katniss, or perhaps it is because the studio already knows that The Hunger Games will probably be the year's only uncontested film to open over a $100 million when it arrives next month in time for Thanksgiving. Whatever the reason, the fire is spreading, and la révolution has come to Panem, as well as all-out war.
In the new and final teaser for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Katniss is confronted with the destruction of her home district, as well as the rising anger that will transform her from figurehead to revolutionary while shrouded in the ashes of war.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 adapts the first half of Suzanne Collins' book and boasts the cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Natalie Dormer, Julianne Moore, Stanley Stucci and Donald Sutherland.
In the not-so-distant future, the Hunger Games are over, and Katniss’ home, the impoverished District 12, has been destroyed. Yet, whisked away against her will as the symbol of resistance to the “forgotten” District 13, Katniss (Lawrence) must rise from the ashes as a country’s mockingjay against the tyrannical government run by President Snow (Sutherland).
Directed by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire helmer Francis Lawrence, both Mockingjay films were shot concurrently, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 due out in tehaters on November 21, 2014.
