Chadwick Boseman, Marvel's new Black Panther, will star in at least five of movies...
Following his confirmation in the role of Black Panther for Marvel, it's now been revealed - although it's not a huge surprise - that actor Chadwick Boseman will be playing the part across several films.
Deadlineis reporting that Boseman has inked a deal for five movies. The first of them will be 2016's Captain America: Civil War, where the character of Black Panther will be making his first appearance (in costume). Then there's the small matter of the Black Pantherstandalone movie, which is arriving in 2017.
After that? You can expect Black Panther in Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War Part II. And that leaves Boseman's deal open for at least a Black Panther 2 somewhere along the line.
It's pretty standard form for Marvel to sign long deals with actors, just as it did with, for example, Chris Evans, when he signed up to play Captain America.
In terms of who's going to direct Black Panther, that's inevitably still a little up in the air. Kevin Feige was asked whether Marvel was looking for African-American directors for the film, and a female director for Captain Marvel. He responded, saying "we're looking for the best directors possible."
When asked whether Reginald Hudlin was on the list - a director who wrote for the Black Panther comics - Feige said that "Reggie I've known for many years and is a great guy - I think I'm meeting him again shortly." Make of that what you will.
