David Twohy goes from the world of Riddick to the world of time travel for his new thriller...

David Twohy's career first took off thanks to his writing, with his name on the screenplay credits for the likes ofThe Fugitive, Waterworld, Critters 2, Warlockand, er, G.I. Jane. His directorial breakthrough, however, came at his third attempt, Having steered films such as Disaster In Time and TheArrival (which itself isn't too bad), it was Pitch Black where everything clicked. It remains the best film he's directed to date (although we have a soft spot for A Perfect Getaway, which we talked about when chatting about whether star names ruin modern thrillers, here).

Twohy, following last year's latest Riddickfilm with Vin Diesel, is now circling a new time travel movie, which goes by the name of Replay. It's being funded by Relativity, and is based on the screenplay the studio bought from writer Joe Gazzam (the same Joe Gazzam who's now writing the remake of Cliffhanger).

Replaytells the story of a man who goes forward four days in time, and before he's warned that something has to be done about his kids, he finds out his son is now dead, and he's being accused of his murder. At the end of each day, he comes back 24 hours in time, and thus the clock is ticking - sort of backwards - to find out just what happened.

There's no casting news for Replay as of yet, but we'd imagine that once Twohy is in place, Relativity will want to get the project moving relatively quickly. We'll keep you up to date with it as we hear more...
