Anthony Daniels hints that Episode VII may be an Empire beater, IMAX confirmation, and a new pic of R2-D2 partying...
Production finally wrapped on Star Wars: Episode VII at the end of last week (save for perhaps one or two more days here and there, and any pick-up work), with director JJ Abrams and his team now retreating into an editing room for the best part of a year to get the film into its finished shape. Rumors persist that we may get the first trailer for the movie this side of Christmas, but we've go no concrete source for that at the moment. Best treat it just as rumor.
A few stories have popped up then over the past week, so we figured we were long overdue a Star Wars round-up.
Firstly, the wrap party for the cast and crew was held over the weekend, and actor John Boyega, on his Instagram account, shared one or two moments from it. That included an appearance from a rather battered looking R2-D2. You may well speculate that the R2 will be going through the ringer a little bit in Star Wars: Episode VII...

Then, just to stoke the fires of hype just a little more, Anthony Daniels - C3PO, of course - also posted the following on his Twitter feed...
"No movie sequel is better than The Empire Strikes Back." You might eat those words for Xmas dinner in 2015. Joy & Indigestion to the world!

That said, Daniels won't even have seen a rough cut of footage by this stage. He may well be right, but it's inevitably way too early to tell.
Furthermore, confirmation came at the end of last week that JJ Abrams had shot a single scene of Star Wars: Episode VII in the IMAX format. This had been teased before, but Abrams told Variety that "the benefits outweigh the headache of shooting on IMAX cameras". He added that "the opportunity to have an action sequence for this movie done in IMAX’s natural format was too delicious an idea to pass up. As a filmgoer, it’s something I want to see."
Star Wars: Episode VII is released in December 2015. We'll have a lot more on it between now and then, we'd wager...
