Michael Fassbender is being eyed by Sony to play Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic after Christian Bale dropped out.
With a pedigree like Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Moneyball), you’d think getting an actor to star in Sony’s Untitled Steve Jobs movie would be easy. I mean, at this point, their biggest competition is Ashton Kutcher…
Yet, Boyle and Sorkin have seen first Leonardo DiCaprio pass on the role, and then the unexpected departure yesterday of Christian Bale for a part that he all but seemed signed on to play.
Well, it seems that Boyle and Sorkin may have finally found their Steve Jobs (again) in Michael Fassbender. The very reliable Deadline reports that Sony is now zeroing in on the German-Irish actor who continues to become a rising star with his work in films such as Shame, Prometheus, and 12 Years a Slave. But of course, he is currently best known for playing Magneto in the current X-Men films. Apparently, Fassbender will be able to adapt his schedule, which includes shooting the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse next year, with playing Steve Jobs. Assuming of course he is the first to sign the dotted line.
And I thought getting through iTunes contracts was difficult?
