Olympus Has Fallen 2 is definitely happening, as production commences on London Has Fallen...
Production has finally begun on the sequel to last year's surprise action hit, Olympus Has Fallen. Entitled London Has Fallen, the new movie moves the bulk of the action to the UK, with the catalyst being the death of the British Prime Minister 'under mysterious circumstances'.
The funeral of said PM attracts leaders and posh people from across the world, and that's when the plot to, er, kill them all kicks in. Oh, and the terrorists this time apparently want to take down "every known landmark in the British capital."
If they destroy that nice coffee shop we go to whenever we head down to London, then we'll have the bastards ourselves.
Mind you, Gerard Butler's Secret Service agent, Mike Branning, is back on hand to save the day. Also returning from Olympus Has Fallen are Aaron Eckhart as the US President, Morgan Freeman as his Vice President, Secret Service director Angela Basset, and Melissa Leo as the Secretary Of Defence.
One person not returning is director Antoine Fuqua. Having already steered The Equalizerto box office success this year, he's off working on the remake of The Magnificent Seven with Denzel Washington. Babak Najafi is directing this one instead.
London Has Fallen is set for release on October 2nd 2015.
