Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are set to star in a new comedy about competing for children's affection: Daddy's Home.
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg made for an unlikely duo when they appeared in 2010’s summer hit The Other Guys, and it appears this comedy team-up will be crossing paths again at (where else?) Daddy’s Home.
Paramount Pictures announced Wednesday that Wahlberg and Ferrell are joining forces again for a family comedy in which Ferrell plays a mild mannered radio executive that attempts to be the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children…even though he lives in the shadow of their deadbeat, freeloading papa played by Wahlberg. A competition for their affection ensues, and I’m sure this is going to end with a simple handshake between the two. Obviously.
Sean Anders (Horrible Bosses 2, That’s My Boy) is directing from a script by Brian Burns, as well as Anders, John Morris, and Etan Cohen. Adam McKay and Chris Henchy also contributed to the screenplay.
“Will and Mark are the absolute perfect onscreen duo to take on this hilarious project,” said Adam Goodman, president of Paramount Film Group.
Daddy’s Home is supposed to start shooting before the end of the year.
