We track every DC and Marvel superhero movie release date from now until 2020 with this handy calendar.

If you live long enough, you will see every superhero that you ever imagined possible get a chance on the big screen. Seriously, see for yourself.

So for your reading pleasure and convenience, here's a look at every superhero movie that Warner Bros., Marvel Studios, 20th Century Fox, and Sony have planned for about the next half decade or so. Yowza. All of 'em, from Avengers 2 to Justice League 2, as well as movies you never probaby expected to see (we're lookin at you, Deadpool!).

Just by way of disclaimer, we've already gone into more detail about each of the respective studios' superhero schedules in other articles. We've got some details here to be sure, but if you want a thorough breakdown of what Warner Bros and DC have to offer, click here. For the full Marvel studios calendar with details click here. And our slightly more speculative look at the Fox X-Men/Fantastic Four plans are here. We haven't bothered with Sony yet because, well, the Spidey franchise is a mess, and even we can't look at things that closely.

May 1st, 2015 - Avengers: Age of Ultron

Do we really need to discuss this? Haven't you watched the trailer a dozen times and read our frame by frame breakdown of it at least once already?

Ant Man

July 17th, 2015 - Ant-Man

Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly star in Peyton Reed's (not Edgar Wright's) Ant-Man movie. Expect surprising tie-ins with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter TV shows, and a hefty dose of Marvel Studios charm.

August 7th, 2015 - Fantastic Four

What's it about? We'd like to tell you more about the Fantastic Four movie, but there really isn't all that much to tell, as Fox are really keeping this one under wraps. You can read everything we do know about the Fantastic Four movie right here.

But for your convenience:

Who's involved? Josh Trank (Chronicle) directs, and Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Miles Teller, and Jamie Bell are the Fantastic Four, with Toby Kebbel as the villainous Doctor Doom.

February 12th, 2016 - Deadpool

What's it about? Damned if I know, and I've read the script. It's got nearly as many murders as jokes (and that's a lot), and features appearances from all manner of C-list mutants and X-Men hangers-on. It's great. I wrote extensively about the Deadpool movie here.

Who's involved? Tim Miller (Zombieland) is directing from the aforementioned script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Ryan Reynolds will star.

March 25th, 2016 - Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

What's it about? A grizzled, aged Batman takes exception to the state that the Superman/Zod battle in Man of Steel has left Metropolis, and shows up to see what's up. He does not become BFFs with Supes, it would appear. Lex Luthor is the villain (although we hear there's someone else involved), and we'll also meet Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and possibly some other Justice League members.

Who's involved? Zack Snyder directs from a script by David Goyer and Chris Terrio. It stars (as if you had to ask) Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Momoa, Jeremy Irons, Ray Fisher, and lots of other folks...

May 6th, 2016 - Captain America: Civil War

What's it about? Ummmm...it's a seriously long story. Just go ahead and read more details on that one right here

Who's involved? Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, and we imagine Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Oh, and we'll meet the Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman for the first time in this one. The writers of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are back, as are directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

May 27th, 2016 - X-Men: Apocalypse

What's it about? Well, the X-Men "First Class" trilogy will reach it's conclusion in the '80s. We wrote a bit about Apocalypse himself right here.

Who's involved? Bryan Singer is once again directing, with Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris handling the screenplay. We understand that this will once again be a bit of a mix between the old and new casts, but that could mean just about anything. Expect a heavy focus on the younger X-Men, though, and possibly the introduction of Channing Tatum as Gambit.

suicide squad light

August 5th, 2016 - Suicide Squad

What's it about? The Suicide Squad are a team of former mercenaries and supervillains, currently running black ops missions for an arm of the US Government in the DC Universe. If they disobey, well...things don't go well for them. David Ayer described this one as "The Dirty Dozen with superheroes," which is a pretty reasonable way of calling it. We had some fun with the Suicide Squad's greatest deaths, and you can read that here.

Who's involved? David Ayer is directing. There was once a script by Justin Marks, but we don't know for sure if that's still the one. Warner Bros. are targeting big stars like Tom Hardy, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie for this one. We'll see who they get...

November 4th, 2016 - Doctor Strange

What's it about? Doctor Stephen Strange is Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, and the defender of the realm against mystical threats. He's a bit of a trip. Read more about his adventures right here.

Who's involved? It looks like Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange. Scott Derrickson (Sinister) is directing from a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus).

November 11th, 2016 - The Sinister Six

What's it about? The Sinister Six are some of Spidey's nastiest baddies, There's been some chatter that this will serve as a "soft reboot" of the troubled Amazing Spider-Man franchise, with Spidey forced to team up with a bunch of villains. In this case, we're looking at Green Goblin, Kraven, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus, Electro, and the Rhino.

Who's involved? Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) is set to write and direct this one, which is exciting. We imagine Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, and Paul Giamatti would reprise their roles as the Green Goblin, Electro, and the Rhino, respectively, along with Andrew Garfield as Spidey. But given all the weirdness surrounding Sony's Spider-plans right now, well...who knows?

March 3rd, 2017 - Wolverine 3

What's it about? Your guess is as good as ours. Could this be the movie where Hugh Jackman's Logan gets put out to pasture?

Who's involved? Hugh Jackman, of course. But then there's James Mangold, the director of the generally well-regarded The Wolverine returning to direct.

May 5th, 2017 - Guardians of the Galaxy 2

What's it about? Well, there's the matter of Peter Quill's parentage to address. And we really need to figure out what's up with Thanos before he shows up to wage the Infinity War (more on that a little further down the list). Probably some rockin' tunes, too...

Who's involved? The original cast is back (yay!), as is director James Gunn (also yay!). Why mess with success?

June 23rd, 2017 - Wonder Woman

What's it about?A rumor surfaced recently that Wonder Woman will be an origin story (likely), and is envisioned as the first film of a trilogy (logical), and that the first one would be set in the 1920s (interesting), with each successive film moving her story up to the moment where we meet her in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Make of that what you will.

Who's involved? Right now? Gal Gadot. It's been said that Warner Bros. are hoping to find a female director for this, though.

July 14th, 2017 - Fantastic Four 2

Perhaps Fox have counted the proverbial chickens on this one, considering that the first film has already seen its release date shifted several times. As soon as we have something to report, we'll let you know.

July 28th, 2017 - Thor: Ragnarok

What's it about? This one has a lot of things to clear up, especially the bits about Loki replacing Odin on the throne of Asgard, but there's lots more at stake for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. We went into much greater detail here.

Who's involved? No writer or director is yet in place, but we can safely expect Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Idris Elba to return. We figure we'll have to see Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, too.

November 3rd, 2017 - Black Panther

What's it about? T'Challa is the king of Wakanda, the richest nation in the world. Why? It's major export is Vibranium, a technological wonder metal that, among other things, makes up Captain America's shield and Ultron's body. T'Challa is a warrior king with a scientific mind. Basically, think of a guy with a brain like Tony Stark (but with much better manners) who can kick ass like Steve Rogers. But he's actually much weirder and cooler than that.

Who's involved? Chadwick Boseman is the Black Panther. No writer or director are yet in place.

November 17th, 2017 - Justice League Part One

What's it about? Damned if we know. We've heard rumors that everyone from Brainiac to Darkseid is the villain of this one. You can read more about what we do know about it here.

Who's involved? Zack Snyder will direct, and it sounds like Chris Terrio is back to write the script. It stars everyone from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then some, we'd imagine.

March 23rd, 2018 - The Flash

What's it about? Well...it won't be the TV show, that's for sure.

Who's involved? Ezra Miller is playing the Flash. No word on which Flash...or anything else for that matter.

May 4th, 2018 - Avengers: Infinity War Part 1

What's it about? We think it's time to welcome Thanos to Earth, don't you? We wrote lots more about the potential storylines of Avengers: Infinity War parts I and II right here.

Who's involved? We've heard reports that Joe and Anthony Russo will move on to these Avengers films after Captain America: Civil War is done. No confirmation on that just yet, though.

den of geek amazing spider man review

May 27th, 2018 - The Amazing Spider-Man 3

What's it about? Ummmm...here's a list of villains that were hinted at in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Who's involved? In theory...Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield. In reality, we don't even know if this movie is going to happen.

July 6th, 2018 - Captain Marvel

What's it about? Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers. She's a cosmically powered badass with a power set that should make Wonder Woman flinch.

Who's involved? Not even a writer or director, let alone a star on this one...but Jessica Chastain keeps saying she wants to be a superhero.

gambit movie

July 13th, 2018 - Mystery Fox Marvel Movie

What is it? It's all but certain that this one is the Gambitmovie. Gambithas a star (Channing Tatum) and a writer (Josh Zetumer). It's the only date on Fox's calendar that isn't spoken for, so...yeah. We're not saying it's Gambit, but...it's Gambit.

November 2nd, 2018 - Inhumans

What's it about? This one would take too long to explain in a paragraph. Please let this article do it for you.

Who's involved? Nobody...yet.

July 27th, 2018 - Aquaman

What's it about? We understand that Aquaman will be an origin movie for the King of Atlantis, but beyond that, well...

Who's involved? Jason Momoa is Aquaman, but you already knew that. Warner Bros. brought in two different writers to work on two different versions of the script, Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire).

Shazam Movie

April 5th, 2019 - Shazam

What's it about? Billy Batson says one magic word (guess what it is?) to become the World's Mightiest Mortal, Captain Marvel Shazam. As the benefactor of these ancient magics, he will have to do battle with his predecessor, the villainous Black Adam. This movie is a potentially big deal on the WB/DC calendar...here's why we think so.

Who's involved? Dwayne Johnson is playing Black Adam and Darren Lemke (Turbo, Jack the Giant Slayer) is writing the screenplay. There's a chance that James Wan may direct, too.

May 3rd, 2019 - Avengers: Infinity War Part 2

Well, we don't know any more about part two than we do about part one. Here's our really nerdy article about the potential story for you again.

June 14th, 2019 - Justice League Part Two

What we just said about Avengers 4 is only slightly less true for Justice League Part Two. With this one, we at least know that, as of now, they expect Zack Snyder to return as director.

April 3rd, 2020 - Cyborg

It's safe to say this one won't be an origin story, as by 2020, Ray Fisher will have already appeared in at least THREE DC superhero movies. It sounds like he was as surprised as we were to see a Cyborgmovie on the calendar, as well.

June 19th, 2020 - Green Lantern

The big question here is going to be...which Green Lantern will we see? By most accounts, the new Green Lantern will be introduced in the first Justice Leaguemovie. But who? John Stewart? Kyle Rayner? GUY GARDNER?

The Rest

Now, it's likely that some of these will drop off or move around, while others may appear. For example,

Sony's Spider-Man universe slate is pretty unclear these days. We haven't even considered Sony's undated 2017 "we swear we're going to bring you a female superhero" movie set in the Amazing Spider-Man universe, and it appears that their Venommovie is dead (but that may change).

Fox has had an X-Force movie cooking with Jeff Wadlow for quite some time (some more details of that can be found here), but for the moment, it appears that Deadpooland Gambithave taken priority over this one. Perhaps we'll see plans for X-Force start to solidify after X-Men: Apocalypse has come and gone.

It's still possible that some of those Warner Bros/DC superhero movies may shift around a little, but this is by far the clearest picture we've had so far of the schedule. We did discuss a few other possibilities, including when we might see Man of Steel 2or a solo Batmanmovie right here. Sandmandoesn't have a release date yet, but that project is moving right along. Sadly, it looks like Guillermo Del Toro's Justice LeagueDarkmovie (sometimes known as Dark Universe) is no more, as he probably doesn't have room in his schedule for it.

We will of course update, add to, and subtract from this article as more information becomes available to us!
